Returns & Refunds Policy
Last updated: October 2026
1812 makes products to last. If something is not right, we will make it right.
This policy explains your rights and our process for returns, refunds and exchanges. It applies to all purchases made through www.1812england.com. 1812 and 1812 England are trading names of DISHONOR Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales.
01
Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If you are a consumer purchasing through our website, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving any reason. This is your legal right and it always applies to standard products.
02
Standard Returns: 28 Day Window
You have 28 days from the date your order is delivered to notify 1812 that you wish to return it. You then have a further 14 days to send it back to us.
This window is longer than the 14 day cancellation period the law requires and runs alongside it. Your statutory rights in section 01 are unchanged.
To begin a return, contact us at info@1812england.com with your order number and reason for return. We will confirm receipt and provide return instructions.
Every item is inspected on arrival. To be accepted, a returned item must be unworn or unused and in the condition in which it was received. For footwear, this means:
Tried on indoors only, on a clean carpeted surface
Unmarked, with no creasing across the vamp, no marks on the leather or suede and no wear to the sole
Complete, with the presentation box, sneaker bags, spare laces, care documentation and every other item supplied with the order
Packed with care: the presentation box is part of the product and must arrive undamaged, so place it inside a plain outer box rather than using it as the shipping container
Accompanied by your order confirmation or proof of purchase
If a returned item shows wear, damage or missing contents, 1812 will contact you before taking any action. Within the statutory 14 day period, we may reduce your refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods, up to the full value of the item. After the statutory period, returns under our 28 day window are accepted only where the conditions above are met.
All returns must be sent to:
Returns Address
1812 Returns Department
5 to 7 French's Ave
Dunstable LU6 1BH
03
Made to Order and Bespoke Products
Products made to your specific requirements or that are clearly personalised are exempt from the standard 14 day cancellation right under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and from the 28 day returns window in section 02.
Where a product is made to order, this will be clearly communicated at the point of purchase. By placing an order for a made to order product, you acknowledge that your right to cancel does not apply.
This exemption does not affect your rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods.
04
Faulty or Damaged Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If your product arrives faulty, damaged in transit, or does not match its description, you have the right to a repair, replacement, or full refund.
Please report any fault or damage within 48 hours of receipt by contacting us at info@1812england.com. Include your order number and photographs of the issue where possible.
1812 will assess your claim and respond within five working days with a proposed resolution.
As our products are handmade, natural variations in materials, finish and construction are inherent to the process. These are not defects. Genuine manufacturing faults will always be addressed.
05
Return Postage
If you are returning a standard product within the 28 day returns window, return postage is your responsibility.
If you are returning a product because it is faulty, damaged, or misdescribed, 1812 will cover the cost of return postage.
We recommend using a tracked and insured service for all returns. 1812 cannot accept responsibility for parcels lost or damaged in transit on their way back to us.
06
Refunds
Once your return has been received and inspected, 1812 will process your refund within 14 days. Refunds are issued to the original payment method.
Standard returns: refund covers the product price and standard outbound delivery costs. Express delivery costs are not refunded.
Faulty or misdescribed goods: full refund including original delivery costs.
1812 reserves the right to reduce the refund amount if the returned item shows signs of use, damage, or has been handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to assess it.
07
Exchanges
Given the handmade and limited nature of 1812 products, exchanges are subject to availability. We cannot guarantee that an alternative size or style will be available at the time of your return.
If you would like to exchange an item, please contact us at info@1812england.com before returning your order. We will confirm availability and advise on next steps.
Where an exchange is not possible, a refund will be issued in accordance with this policy.
08
The 1812 Resole Service
The 1812 Resole Service is a restoration service and is not subject to standard return or refund rights. Once a resole has been completed, it cannot be reversed or refunded unless the work was carried out to a defective standard.
If you are dissatisfied with the quality of resole work, please contact us at info@1812england.com within 7 days of receiving your shoes. We will assess the matter and respond within five working days.
Full terms for the Resole Service are provided at the point of booking.
09

1812 currently delivers within the United Kingdom only, so returns are accepted from UK delivery addresses.
